FAQ's

Dress Code

We observe a dress code here at the Academy for our classes for both the safety of our students as well as enabling the instructor to make quick corrections.

Tuition

Tuition for our SEASON dance classes (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Early Childhood Dance) is charged by the "year".  We offer payment options that are outlined on our tuition sheet.

N.B.  Workshops and classes run by SESSION (these are a one-time class, or a short series of a few--i.e. 6 classes) are charged per class/by session.  The tuition for those is posted along with the class itself, and is paid in advance.

Academy "Extra's"

  • The Academy presents an annual year-end production in June that mimics a "real" ballet/theatre show--a story line, acting/miming, costumes, sets, props, etc.  All show expenses are SEPARATE from your tuition, and participation in the show is optional--although strongly encouraged for the fantastic life experience.

  • Each dancer gets a binder at the beginning of the year, that they bring with them every class.  In it is all of the Academy policies, dress code, and a calendar for the entire season.  Younger students get stickers for their calendar every time they attend class.

  • The Academy offers special events throughout the season--workshops, parties, and events just for Academy  members.  We believe it is important to build friendships and have fun outside of class.

Can I watch my child's class?

We do not allow parents or friends to observe the classes as it causes distraction and (sometimes) confusion for the students (young ones will not understand who to listen/pay attention to). We also consider the very shy student who will freeze up and not participate with a group of "strangers" watching.  We strive to create the best learning environment for all of our students, and sometimes students may not participate or take “chances” with the fear of looking silly in front of people. We have special times for parents to observe throughout the year; we know how important it is for you to know what is going on! On a similar note, you are more than welcome to stay; we have a cozy waiting room where you can hear everything that goes on in the classroom and enjoy the free wifi while you wait.

What if we sign up and my child doesn't like it?

The Academy acknowledges that dance is a unique art form and is not suited to everyone. Also, not every student is suited to every dance form. With that in mind, the student has a period of a maximum two months (or 7 classes) after registration in which to either transfer to a different class or completely withdraw from the program, (with a small penalty). There is a cancellation clause that is clearly outlines our refund policy on our contract and waiver form.

COVID-19 Policy Adjustments

We kindly ask all of our students and families to be flexible and understanding as we change to stay alongside with government regulations and suggestions....we are in this together.

As the situation for the Covid-19 pandemic in continually changing and evolving, the Academy will evolve along side it in order to keep our students and dance family safe.  As such, these policies are in a constant state of flux; please ensure that you are up to date.

  • Our classes for 3 year olds and under are suspended for now, until things are safer for our wee littles.

  • Class Props:  Students will be required to purchase their own props (scarves, shakers, exercise bands, etc) we use in class, which will be in a personal, sealed bag and left at the studio.  In the event the studio must close, or student sickness, arrangements will be made to pick your bag up so that classes can continue at home via Zoom.

  • Masks:  Upon entering and exiting the building, masks are mandatory as social distancing is not possible. However, during the class, especially in the higher levels when there is a lot of exertion, masks are optional.

  • Time between classes has been increased in order to facilitate the necessary extra sanitation of the space and allow for less interaction between classes.

  • The Waiting room is CLOSED until further notice.  Parents (and siblings)  will have to wait in their vehicles while classes are in progress.   NOTE:  Because the first 6 weeks of classes will be broadcast live on Zoom for our last seasons students who are not returning and we owe classes to, we will not be offering free wifi simultaneously, as our rural internet can not handle both.

  • The Boutique is open, but only BY APPOINTMENT, as it is a small area and social distancing is not possible.  Please note that all sales are final--so please make sure that you love your purchase and it fits before taking it home.

  • The studio bathroom is for emergencies only.  Please make going to the bathroom part of your routine when leaving your house.

GENERAL:

* This section will be updated as policies become decided upon.

MANDATED STUDIO CLOSURE:  In the event that the government mandates us to close, classes will continue via the Zoom platform.  Please note that there may be adjustments in the schedule, due to the platform if this happens.  Tuition will remain the same if classes are online or at the studio.  If online classes are impossible in your situation, please contact the Academy directly and mutually fair arrangements will be made.

Full details of our policies will be available at the time of registration.
